Product Description

Axial Expansion Joint

The Axial Expansion Joint, also named axial internal pressure type ripple compensator(TNY) is composed of a bellows and two-end connection pipes. The end connection pipe is directly welded to the pipeline, or the flange is welded and then connected to the pipeline flange. The tie rod on the compensator is mainly used for rigid support during transportation or for pre-deformation adjustment of the product. It is not a load-bearing part. This type of compensator is simple in structure and low in price, so it is preferred.

The tie-down axial expansion joint consists of a single bellows element with an end connection and a tie rod system. Regardless of accessories such as liners and caps, this model can absorb all types of motion in any length of pipe, but is mainly used to absorb axial motion and a small amount of lateral motion.

Purpose of Axial Expansion Joint

Axial Expansion Joint is mainly used to compensate for axial displacement, and can also compensate for lateral displacement or the combined axial and lateral displacement. It has the ability to compensate for angular displacement, but it is generally not used to compensate for angular displacement.

Model: DN32-DN8000 produced by our company

Pressure level: 0.1Mpa-2.5Mpa

Connection mode: 1. Flange connection type 2. Takeover connection type

Precautions for installation and use: After the installation is complete, the inner nut of the tie rod is loosened to the middle position.

Common problems in choosing bellows compensator:

The working pressure, working temperature, size, medium, compensation amount, the use of working conditions environment of the Axial Expansion Joint should be provided by its manufacturer, and choose suitable conditions of the ripple compensator products according to your needs.

Axial Movement of Axial Expansion Joint

Definitions of Axial Movement of Axial Expansion Joint

Axial movement is shown as AX and stated in millimeter. Compression and elongation are indicated as negative (-) and positive (+).

Axial movement is considered as an elongation or compression of the pipe system in its longitudinal axis, meaning that in the process of absorbing the movements, the overall length of the expansion joint will either extend or compress.

Axial expansion joint which is designed to absorb large movements, can contain one, two or several bellows in one unit, and larger movements can also be achieved by pre-tensioning or by installing several expansion joints on the pipe section. Depending on the nominal diameter and length, axial expansion joints have the ability to absorb minor lateral and angular deflections and installation tolerances. However, we recommend the utilisation should be limited to axial expansion joints main function, otherwise its service life may be negatively impaired.

Where there is a need for absorption other than that of axial movements, we strongly recommend alternative options and Tongyong Bellows will be pleased to provide professional advice to any customers.

Application of Axial Expansion Joint

The axial expansion joint has the ability to compensate for axial movement and has a simple and compact overall size, so it has been widely used in a series of applications. Axial expansion joints are especially common in long pipelines, such as exhaust systems, ventilation and flue gas systems, district heating, steam, oil and natural gas pipeline systems.

Advantages & Requirements of Axial Expansion Joint

What are the benefits of using axial expansion joints?

► Simple solution to compensate for temperature fluctuations

► No change in flow direction

► Compact and space-saving solution

► Relatively low cost

What are the requirements for the use of axial expansion joints?

► Need strong fixing points and good guidelines

► Large movements require the use of multiple axial expansion joints

► Long pipe sections require many fixing points and guiding devices

► Fixed points and guides are more expensive.

Types of Axial Expansion Joints

Tied Axial Expansion Joints - Flanged

Tied Axial expansion joints are expansion joints that absorb mainly longitudinal movements  - axially along a straight section of pipe. Flanged Tied Axial expansion joints are mainly used to absorb axial movements and small amounts of lateral movement using tie rod system.Connection parts:Axial expansion joints can be manufactured with fixed flanges by flange standard, depending on customer requirements

Tied Axial Expansion Joints - Welding ends

Tied Axial expansion joints with welding ends are expansion joints that absorb mainly longitudinal movements  - axially along a straight section of pipe. Tied Axial expansion joints with welding ends are mainly used to absorb axial movements and small amounts of lateral movement using tie rod system.Connection parts:Axial expansion joints can be manufactured with welding ends, depending on customer requirements
